England Premier League Preview: Week 21 (Jan 11-14)

Saturday January 14 2012,
Tottenham Hotspur can move joint top of the Premier League with a win over struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Tottenham are currently three points behind league leading Manchester City, who do not play until Monday. Wolves are currently one point above the relegation zone after a seven game winless run.

Manchester United are currently level on points with Tottenham, and can also move into a tie for first place if they beat struggling Bolton Wanderers. Bolton currently sit in the relegation zone and are one point adrift of safety.

In other action, Blackburn Rovers can climb off the bottom of the Premier League table with a win or draw when they play host to Fulham on Saturday.

Blackburn are currently three points adrift of safety after losing their last two games, while Fulham are seven points clear of the relegation zone after beating Arsenal 2-1 last time out.

England Premier League Preview: Week 20 (Jan 2-4)

Tuesday January 3 2012,
Manchester United will be looking to stay in touch at the top of the Premier League table with a win at Newcastle United on Wednesday.
United are three points behind league leading Manchester City after being beaten 3-2 by Blackburn Rovers last time out, but have played a game less than the Citizens.

Newcastle have fallen to seventh place in the table after winning one of their last eight games.

These two teams met at Old Trafford back on November 26th, when a second half Demba Ba penalty snatched a 1-1 draw for Newcastle.

In the other game of the day, Bolton Wanderers will be looking for a win to lift themselves off the bottom of the table when they travel to face Everton.

Last placed Bolton are four points adrift of safety after drawing 1-1 against Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out. Everton can move into the top half of the table with a win or draw, and will enter this fixture looking to extend a four game unbeaten run.

Saturday December 31 2011,
Manchester City will be looking to open up a three-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a win at Sunderland on New Year’s Day.
City currently sit top of the Premier League, but are above second placed Manchester United on goal difference alone having played a game less. United slipped up on New Year’s Eve when they were beaten 3-2 at Old Trafford by relegation strugglers Blackburn Rovers.

Sunderland are three points clear of the relegation zone and will be looking to make this their third game without tasting defeat.

In the other game of the day, West Bromwich Albion will play host to Everton with both teams knowing a win will lift them into the top half of the table.

West Brom currently sit in 11th place in the Premier League, while Everton are one place and one point behind them. Both teams will enter this game in good form, and will be looking to extend a three game unbeaten run.

England Premier League Preview: Week 18 (Dec 26-27)

Tuesday December 27 2011,
Third placed Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to break into the title race with a victory at Norwich City on Tuesday.
Tottenham have lost only one of their last 14 Premier League games, and with a win over Norwich can move to within seven points of the league lead, having played a game less than joint leaders Manchester United and Manchester City.

Tottenham’s north London rivals Arsenal will also be in action on Tuesday. The Gunners can break into the top four with a win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Tuesday.

The Gunners are in good form having won three of their last four games, Wolves will be looking for a win to increase the one point gap between themselves and the relegation zone.

In Tuesday’s other game, Swansea City will play host to Queens Park Rangers with both teams looking to climb away from the relegation zone.

This game will be a clash between two newly promoted clubs who have won respect for their style of play from many fans and pundits. They will now be looking to collect enough points to ensure they stay in the division.

QPR are currently two points clear of the relegation zone after losing their last three games, while Swansea are two points further ahead.

England Premier League Preview: Week 17 (Dec 20-22)

Thursday December 22 2011,
Tottenham Hotspur will play host to Chelsea in a high profile London derby at White Hart Lane on Thursday.
Third placed Tottenham are 10 points behind league leading Manchester City, but have played two games less than both the Citizens and second placed Manchester United.

Fourth placed Chelsea are two points behind Spurs, having played one extra game.

Both teams will enter this battle for third place in good form, with Tottenham having lost one of their last 13 league games, and Chelsea riding a four game unbeaten streak.

Speedy wing duo Aaron Lennon and Gareth Bale both look set to miss out for Tottenham, while strike pair Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defoe are injury doubts.

Chelsea captain John Terry has recovered from an Achilles injury and is expected to start in defense. With Luis Suarez being banned for eight games this week after being charged with racism, it will be interesting to see if Terry’s focus is impacted by his own ongoing racism charge.

David Luiz is sidelined with a knee injury for the Blues, while fellow Brazilian Ramires is expected to shake off a leg injury in time to play.

Manchester City will play host to in-form Arsenal in one of the most anticipated games of the Premier League season so far.
Fans will want to see if Manchester City can recover from suffering their first league defeat of the season last Monday, and if Arsenal can extend their eight game league unbeaten run.

City’s 2-1 loss at Chelsea cut their lead at the top of the table to two points, and they could kickoff this game in second place if Manchester United beat Queens Park Rangers earlier in the day.

Arsenal have climbed back up to fifth with their run of good form, and a win over City at the Etihad Stadium could see the Gunners re-enter the top four.

Tottenham Hotspur are currently two points ahead of Arsenal, and will be looking for a sixth straight home win when they host Sunderland.

League leading Manchester City will travel to face Chelsea in a top of the table Premier League clash on Monday.
City will be looking for a win to increase their two-point lead at the top of the table, while Chelsea can climb up to third with a win at Stamford Bridge.

Both teams will be entering this game in good form with City still unbeaten in Premier League play. Chelsea have lifted some of the pressure off manager Andre Villas-Boas by winning their last two Premier League games by identical 3-0 score-lines.

Brazilian defender David Luiz is suspended for Chelsea, while Jose Bosingwa looks set to return from injury.

Daniel Sturridge will lead the Chelsea attack, and the young English striker is the Blues’ leading goal scorer in Premier League play this season. England international midfielder Frank Lampard is set to make his 350th Premier League start for Chelsea.

Defensive pair Micah Richards and Aleksandar Kolarov are ruled out with injury for City, while Pablo Zabaleta should be fit enough to play.

England Premier League Preview: Week 14 (Dec 3-5)

Liverpool will be looking to extend an eight game Premier League unbeaten streak when they travel to face struggling Fulham on Monday.
Liverpool can climb into the top six with a win here, and will have had their morale boosted by reaching the Carling Cup semi-finals last week.

Fulham currently sit only two points above the relegation zone, and will enter this game looking to snap a three game winless skid.

Clint Dempsey and Bryan Ruiz look set to return for Fulham, while Damien Duff and Mousa Dembele are injury doubts and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.

Dempsey and Dembele were the last Fulham players to score in the Premier League, when they both netted during a 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic on October 29th. The last two Premier League goals scored by the Cottagers have been own goals by opposing players.

Captain Steven Gerrard remains sidelined for Liverpool, while Brazilian midfielder Lucas is out after suffering a season ending knee injury.

Tottenham are sweating on the fitness of Dutch playmaker Rafael van der Vaart who is struggling with a hamstring problem. Vedran Corluka is expected to recover from an ankle injury in time to play, while Tom Huddlestone and Michael Dawson are ruled out.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp will return to the Tottenham dugout after recently undergoing heart surgery to unblock his arteries. “I feel fine, I’ve got more energy than I had before, I’ll be on the bench for sure,” Redknapp told BBC Sport.

Newcastle United will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season when they travel to face Stoke City.

Many fans are predicting this season’s Premier League title race to be a two horse race between the two Manchester club’s, this game is Chelsea’s chance to prove those theories wrong.

Manchester City will look to continue their perfect winning start to the season when they travel to face rock bottom Fulham.

City have won all four of their Premier League games this season scoring 15 goals in the process. In contrast, Fulham have managed only two draws and two goals so far.

Sunderland are above Fulham on goal difference only, and will be looking for their first win of the season when they play host to Stoke City.

Tottenham Hotspur will play host to Liverpool to round off Sunday’s action.

England Premier League Preview: Week 4 (Sep 10-11)

Sunday September 11 2011,
Norwich City will play host to West Bromwich Albion on Sunday with both teams looking for their first win of the season.
Striker James Vaughan has recovered from injury and is in line to make his Norwich debut, while defender Zak Whitbread is doubtful.

Goalkeeper John Ruddy is suspended for Norwich, with Declan Rudd lined up as the replacement. Paul Lambert expressed his confidence in the young keeper Rudd this week; “There’s been games I’ve played him before and he’s never let me down,” Lambert told BBC Sport.

Peter Odemwingie should shake off an ankle injury in time to play for West Brom, while Zoltan Gera returns from suspension. Leading goal scorer Shane Long is an injury doubt and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.

Manchester United will play host to Arsenal in a high stakes Premier League clash on Sunday.
United will be looking for their third straight win to open the season, while Arsenal are seeking their first Premier League victory.

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City will clash in what should be an entertaining game at White Hart Lane. Samir Nasri could make his debut in the fixture for a City team seeking their third straight win.

Newcastle United will begin life without Joey Barton when they play host Fulham.

Newcastle will be looking to continue their unbeaten start, while Fulham are seeking their first Premier League win of the season.

West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City will both be seeking their third straight win when they clash at the Hawthorns.

England Premier League Preview: Week 2 (Aug 20-22)

Arsenal will play host to Liverpool in a high profile Premier League clash on Saturday.
The winner will strike an early psychological blow and stay in touch at the top of the table, while the losers could find themselves under early pressure.

Chelsea could hand a debut to teenage sensation Romelu Lukaku as they play host to West Bromwich Albion.
