Manchester United head into their last home game of the season as they square off against FA Cup finalists Hull City in a Premier League encounter on Tuesday, the 6th of May.

Preview: Giggs hoping to bid farewell in style

Tuesday’s encounter could be the last time Man United’s veteran star represents the club as a coach or as a player in front of the United faithful at the Old Trafford. The 40 year old has dedicated his entire playing career to one club and during the period has won 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two Champions League crowns.

He was appointed interim manager of the side after former manager David Moyes was relieved of his duties. It is almost certain that a new manager will be taking the hot seat before the beginning of the new season and Giggs has claimed that even though he would never play for a club other than Man United, he would be looking for managerial opportunities elsewhere to blossom his career.

"I can only play for United. It's black and white, and it's not about money," he told reporters.

"I've been extremely lucky in that I have only ever worked at United, but I am still a young man in relative terms in management.

"I could have another 20 to 25 years in the game – and it might not all be spent at United. If I went elsewhere it would be strange, but I can see myself doing that.

"The association I have with United will always be special – if I have to do it I'll do it, but how it will feel I don't know."

Giggs who has been operating on a player-coach capacity has also claimed that he might make an appearance in the match and would like to round of his playing days with a goal to his name.

"It might dawn on me on Monday or Tuesday. Then I might have to put myself on the bench," he said.

"The perfect scenario would be me coming on and scoring but football doesn't work like that."

Even though Man United have nothing much to play for with the Europa League qualification well out of sight, the Red Devils will be hoping to finish the season on a strong note. Giggs’ short term stint as manager of United began brightly as his side subjected Norwich to a 4-0 defeat. However the defending champions were unable to carry the momentum forward as Sunderland who have been on a resurge recently scored a 1-0 victory over their counterparts highlighted by a solitary goal from former Arsenal man Sebastian Larsson.

Ryan Giggs made a few changes to the side with both Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj making their return to the match day squad. Whereas there was a place for all of Juan Mata, Darren Fletcher, Javier Hernández as well as the returning Luis Nani in the starting line-up. Much for all the changes, United never gave the impression of a side which could win the match and it was Sunderland who dominated most of the game and were rewarded with three points.

Hull on the other hand after a positive start to the season have experienced a dip in form having slipped down to 15th place in the Premier League table. The Tigers are winless in their last three matches but have been assured of safety as well as a place in next season’s Europa League after making it to the final of the FA Cup. Despite their current league position, the season has been a successful one for Steve Bruce and co. And the former Man United player can further build on it by guiding Hull to their first major trophy if his side is to get the better of Arsenal in the FA Cup final to be played on the 17th of May.

Hull conceded a 2-0 lead against the Red Devils last time the two sides met. James Chester’s early goal gave Hull City the lead and it was the 25 year olds own goal in the 66th minute which proved to be the winner as the match ended 3-2 in United’s favor.

Wayne Rooney remains a doubt for Tuesday’s encounter and might remain on the sidelines but Robin Van Persie is poised to start the match after making a substitute appearance in the match against Sunderland.

For Hull City, James Chester will miss the match after picking up a hamstring injury in the 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa. The defender will be joined on the sidelines by Sone Aluko, Paul McShane (both ankle) and Allan McGregor.

The Red Devils enjoy a fine record against their counterparts on Tuesday and have won their last five matches against Hull scoring 20 goals in the process and conceding just six. But the English giants are currently on their worst home league form since the 1973/74 season having lost seven games at the Old Trafford.
