Liverpool and Manchester City are set to duel it out in a much anticipated and vital English Premier League encounter on Sunday, at Anfield Road. To the two sides are witnessing themselves compete for the coveted league title as Liverpool and Manchester City are first and third in the league, respectively, with only four points separating them.
Rodgers and Pellegrini's men are also enjoying one of the best goal-scoring season as the two teams have scored a combined 174 goals as they enter their clash on Sunday. This breaks the previous record for most combined goals scored by two teams heading into a fixture, previously held by the Manchester duo, United and City (2012; 174 goals).

Liverpool and Manchester City are also on course to break the English Premier League record of most goals scored by a single team in a season, a record still held by Ancelotti's conquering side of 2009/2010. The current record stands 103 goals, with Liverpool and Manchester City scoring 90 and 84, respectively. The Merseyside club have 5 games left to break the Blues' record, whilst the Citizens have 7 games.
