Adnan Januzaj was like a chink of light in an abyss of darkness when he burst onto the scene with a brace of sublime goals versus Sunderland earlier on in Manchester United’s 2013/14 season. As a matter of fact, many Red Devil fans had earmarked the youngster as the person to carry United forward with the performances of club talisman Rooney ‘on the Wayne’ and the forward rumored to be on the Old Trafford exit route.

But now, at a time when 7th placed United need most inspiration, Januzaj’s star is not shining as bright and the Belgian’s (or is it Albanian’s) stats are steadily declining.

Since his two goals vs Sunderland on October 5th last year, the winger-cum-central attacking midfielder has only scored 2 more goals and assisted 4 times despite more appearances than senior United players like Ashley Young.

Is the pressure of playing for the defending champions finally taking its toll on his small shoulders? Only time will tell but for now both Man United and Januzaj need to up their game.
