On Tuesday, AC Milan were dumped out of the Champions League after two losses to Atletico Madrid in the round of 16.

The Rossoneri had been defeated 1-0 thanks to Diego Costa's late header but were still thinking that they could overturn the Rojiblancos' slim advantage.

Well, it was not to be. Diego Costa grabbed a double as his side ran riot, rendering Kaka's header a mere consolation goal as they ended up losing 5-1 on aggregate.

The Italian press singled out striker Mario Balotelli in particular in their scathing headlines the next day.

"Once upon a time, there was a [real] Milan", read the headlines of the Corriere dello Sport.

"Rossoneri made to look like fools. Kaka with a goal, but Balotell [was an utter] disaster".

The paper also went on to also criticize manager Clarence Seedorf adding, "From Seedorf to Balotelli--a team in disarray".

Italy's main sporting publication, the Gazzetta dello Sport, also got in on the action to express their intense displeasure with the performance by "Super Mario".
