Preview: Inconsistencies and bad defending have hurt both Milan sides
Both AC Milan and Inter Milan are two clubs who have enjoyed success over the years, but this season in Serie A, neither has been all that impressive.
Inter comes into Sunday's derby having conceded four goals against Napoli in their latest defeat. From their last three matches, the Nerazzuri have conceded nine, which currently has them fifth in the table, with 28 points from 16 matches.
They have not won a Serie A match since November 9th, when they defeated Livorno 2-0 at home.
Since then, Inter has drawn three matches against Bologna, Sampdoria and Parma, only to have fallen 4-2 to Napoli in their last league match.
Walter Mazzarri will want to change those fortunes against a very inconsistent Milan side, but they will have to do it without Ricky Alvarez who was shown a red card against Napoli. Diego Milito and Walter Samuel will also be missing due to injury.
AC Milan is clearly having a more difficult time this season, as Allegri's squad has only managed 19 points from 16 matches, as they sit 12th in the league standings.
Their defensive issues have been one of the main problems, as they have one of the worst defensive records in the league. Another part of their struggles can be the fact of all their injuries throughout the first half of the season.
On Sunday, Allegri will be without Robinho, Valter Birsa and Stephan El Shaaawy.
