Following the sacking of the Portuguese tactician, a man hunt for a replacement has begun at White Hart Lane.

One of the most absorbing and exciting match days of the 2013/2014 Barclays Premier League ended with the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur. The Portuguese tactician’s fate was sealed following a 5-0 humbling at home at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday and now, Daniel Levy is looking to find a replacement as soon as possible.

Fabio Capello

The former England manager is considered the hot favourite for the Spurs managerial adventure. Having his former assistant Franco Baldini as the club’s sporting director may tilt the tide Capello’s way who would definitely be out to prove a point in England for many reasons.

However, there is one hitch to this prospect. After guiding Russia to the 2014 World Cup, the Italian tactician might be reluctant to take the Spurs job, but then again, stranger things have happened before and the former England coach might find it difficult to resist the temptation of managing a reputable English club.

Michael Laudrup

The Swansea manager is another candidate getting a lot of positive feedback for the managerial hotseat at White Hart Lane. During the summer transfer window, the former Real Madrid star was linked with a host of clubs but chose to stay with the Swans.

However, the Dane was not happy with the funds he was provided and might be tempted to move to a club that has quite a financial muscle these days. Despite the Welsh club doing really well this season both in England and in Europe, Laudrup could be keen on broadening his managerial horizons.

Guus Hiddink

The Dutchman is a seasoned coach and wherever he has gone, he has worked wonders. The former Turkey manager also has Premier League experience and has a tendency to make his teams play good football, something the Spurs faithful would be desperate to see in whoever their new manager is. However, the experienced tactician will prove to be a short-term fix as he is set to start his second spell as the manager of Holland after Brazil 2014.

Tim Sherwood

The former player is one of the most revered figures at White Hart Lane and following AVB's departure is set to take charge of the team for their league cup clash against West Ham United with a possibility of being handed the role of a caretaker manager till the end of the season.

The benefit of knowing the players could play to the Englishman’s benefit but like Van Gaal, he would be a short-term option, something the club might not be looking for considering their current position in the league.

Roberto Di Matteo

The Italian tactician is very experienced when it comes to picking up the pieces for AVB after replacing him at Chelsea and guiding them to their maiden Champions League triumph. Moreover, the former Italy international also has solid Premier League experience and might be just what Tottenham need to reach the next level.

Martin Jol

After getting the boot from Fulham, Martin Jol will surely not say no to the chance of a second coming to White Hart Lane. However, re-hiring the former Ajax manager will most likely be considered as a step backwards so the odds are fairly low on this one.
