Stadio Olimpico will play host to a scintillating encounter between Roma and Fiorentina on Sunday the 8th of December 2013.

Preview: Fiorentina hoping to take advantage of Roma’s dip in form

After winning ten straight matches in La Liga, Roma’s season was dealt with a twist with La Maggica drawing all of their four subsequent matches. Their antics have allowed Juventus to leapfrog them for the first place and if Roma lose out to their counterparts on Sunday they will be six points adrift of the top of the table.

Roma have uncharacteristically failed to pick up all three points against much weaker opponents, whom they were expected to do very well against. Despite not having managed a victory in the last four matches they have played, Roma are still undefeated this season a feat they share with German giants Bayern Munich.

However Roma’s French coach Rudi Garcia has urged his side to make a response on Sunday and has insisted that his players will have to put up a very spirited performance against a Fiorentina side which has done well this season.

"We have to play like we played the last half-hour in Bergamo. The goal is to play well and win against Fiorentina," he said on Saturday.

The former Lille boss has expressed his desperation on ending Roma’s draw streak and also hopes to give the fans something to cheer for after disappointing displays in the last four matches.

"On paper we see two teams who are playing well and have the ability to score. But football is strange, you can end up with a bad 0-0.

"First I want to win, then I hope we see an interesting show for the fans. I play for their happiness and nothing else.

"We are ready, we are unbeaten at home and there will be 50,000 spectators. I hope we see 11 wolves on the pitch, that's for sure."

Fiorentina on the other hand are pushing for a place in the top four and a win on Sunday will be a massive step forward for them. In their last outing, the Viola defeated Hellas Verona 4-3 to climb up to fifth place in the Serie A table.

The Roma defence will have to be wary of 26 year old Giuseppe Rossi who has started this season in immaculate form. The former Manchester United man currently leads the scoring charts with 12 goals in 14 Serie A games and could be the difference maker during Sunday’s clash.

Francesco Totti’s return to training will be a major boost for Roma who have struggled during their captain’s absence. Even though the Roma veteran is unlikely to start, he is poised to play some part during the match.

Fiorentina on the other hand will be able to welcome Alberto Aquilani back to the starting eleven, whereas Mario Gomez is also likely to make it to the bench.
