Despite losing on out on the services of their best players, AC Milan have been given quite a leg up with the arrival of their former golden boy whose recent performances are encouraging indeed.

Shrugging off the controversy off the pitch, following the topsy-turvy esque nature of Adriano Galliani’s resignation, Milan players picked up a desperately needed 3-1 win at Catania on Sunday.

It was great to see the Rossoneri replicate their performance from the Champions League win over Celtic to Serie A and it seems that Massimiliano Allegri has finally turned the corner following a poor start to the new campaign.

Once again, Milan were left chasing the game but like the Milan sides of yesteryears, they rallied towards a very important win that could define their season.

There were noteworthy performances all over the pitch with the likes of Andrea Poli, Riccardo Motolivo and Nigel De Jong doing more than just fulfilling their main responsibilities.

However, there was one man whose performance throughout the game was head and shoulders above his teammates. The return of Kaka to the place where he really showed his true colours was greeted with much scepticism following his time at Real Madrid where he was found either on the treatment table or on the bench.

However, it is the Brazilian’s return to San Siro that has played a big role in the team’s relatively new renaissance. Milan were struggling while he was injured and now that he is fully fit, Kaka has played a huge factor in the resurgence that puts the manager a little bit at ease. Given increased playing time, Kaka’s performances are only improving which bodes well for the team.

After losing out on the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Alexandre Pato, AC Milan needed a beacon of hope and in the shape of Kaka, they may have found one. Though his second coming comes more out of his keenness to prove himself worthy of a place at the 2014 World Cup in his native Brazil, it could turn out to be a win-win situation for all parties involved.

The devastating burst of pace may be gone but that football brain is ticking as good as ever. Injuries and being overlooked at Madrid might give him the impression of a lesser mortal but at least Kaka is enjoying his football these days, reminiscence of his early days at Milan.

At Madrid, he was not the player Jose Mourinho trusted but at Milan he is appreciated by everyone. Those Ultras who were growing restless, have been successfully calmed down, thanks to the place he has in their hearts.

Though sentiments are rare in football these days, Kaka’s presence is a reminder of happier times in Lombardy and with the way he has performed in the past few games, it is quite clear that the Brazilian is playing from memory and that is something which has started to rub into the younger players who should consider themselves very lucky to be playing alongside a player who has won everything European and world football has on offer.

Milan currently find themselves in eighth place, 20 points adrift of league leaders Juventus. Whereas a league title might be too delusional as of now, Kaka can inspire Milan to a top three finish this season.
