Chelsea will be looking to make amends after their weekend loss when they welcome Schalke on the 6th of November to the Stamford Bridge in a Champions League encounter.

Chelsea welcome Schalke on November 6, 2013.Preview: Blues hoping to go clear on top with a win over Schalke

A win for either side can take them to the top of Group E and forerunners to advance to the next round of the tournament. Chelsea will be vying for all three points after losing out to Newcastle in their last encounter. Jose Mourinho’s men were convincingly beaten by the Magpies and the Portuguese tactician has revealed his frustration on the uncharacteristic manner in which his side dropped points.
I’m not happy with the way we faced that match, as simple as that," he told reporters.

"Sometimes, when you win a lot of times, players forget why they win.”

"Probably they forgot why they won against Schalke, Arsenal, and Manchester City. When you win three, four, five matches they forget why they won and think they win just because they are good.”

“At half-time I was telling them they were competing more in training sessions than in that game. I was disappointed. I want my team to be proactive, not reactive. Things happened I didn’t like. I want my team to be better."

The former Real Madrid coach has also reiterated that he made ’11 mistakes’ in the match against Newcastle and revealed that he will be looking to shuffle his team around as Chelsea push for their 100th win in a UEFA competition.

"I will make changes. Not 11 changes because that would be too much, but changes for sure," Mourinho said according to ESPN.

"I don't know my best team because we have this kind of performance [against Newcastle]."

Complacency has been an issue for the Chelsea side, who experienced a shock defeat at the hands of Basel in the opening Champions League fixture. However the Blues responded strongly with consecutive victories over Steaua Bucharest and Schalke.

Schalke on the other hand will be buoyed coming into this match at the back of a 2-0 victory over Hertha Berlin on Saturday. The Royal Blues are currently unbeaten in seven away games in all competitions and will be hoping to maintain the streak when they face Chelsea.

The Gelsenkirchen side also fared well in their last trip to London when they defeated Arsenal 2-0 at the Emirates last season. Schalke who are on level points with Chelsea, trail the English giants on goal difference only and will be hoping to make amends after suffering their worst home defeat in the Champions League in the reverse fixture.

Julian Draxler who scored his first league goal of the season in the 2-0 victory over Hertha Berlin, will be the biggest threat to the Chelsea defence. The 20 year old has come in leaps and bounds this season having already scored twice in the Champions League, the youngster will be hoping to improve his tally.

Max Meyer is another of Schalke’s young players to have made major strides this season. The 18 year old became the youngest player in Bundesliga to have scored in three consecutive matches and will be pushing for a starting spot.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar who faced a recurrence of his knee injury will not be able to represent his club this year. Kyriakos Papadopoulos on the other hand has returned from injury having played 90 minutes for Schalke reserves but might not be fully fit for the first team yet.

Jefferson Farfan (groin), Marco Hoger (knee) and Chinedu Obasi (tibia) will also miss the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Fernando Torres who scored a brace as Chelsea gunned down Schalke in Gelsenkirchen will miss the tie due to a leg injury, Samuel Eto’o is likely to replace the Spaniard in the starting eleven for Wednesday’s encounter.
