Clubs from the CONMEBOL and UEFA zones come together this summer to form the 2013 Euro-American Cup. The rule of the competition is simple: Europe or Latin America will win the symbolic Trophy James & Thomas Hogg prize based on the highest amount of wins recorded by its participants.
A replica trophy is presented to the winning team of each encounter but the original trophy is set to go to the champion side representing its continent. There are 11 teams – three of which are from Europe.
Atletico Madrid and Sevilla (Spain) as well as FC Porto (Portugal) will embrace the soccer fever in South America with Estudiantes (Argentina), Barcelona (Ecuador), Nacional (Uruguay), Sporting Cristal (Peru), Universidad Catolica (Chile), Atletico Nacional and Millonarios (Colombia), and Anzoategui (Venezuela) completing the list of contenders.
Pay TV platform DirecTV organizes and sponsors this tournament. As a result, all matches of this newly created international contest are to be exclusively broadcast on DirecTV.
