Two of the powerhouses in European football take on each other in a huge test for the players on Wednesday.

Team News

France’s Raphael Varane had to pull out of the squad due to injury. He was replaced by Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa of Newcastle. Germany has had a whole host of withdrawals due to injury. Miroslav Klose’s injury against Genoa when playing for Lazio saw him ruled out for two months. Bastian Schweinsteiger, Marco Reus, Mario Götze and Marcel Schmelzer have all pulled out. Sven Bender has been called in to the squad to replace Schweinsteiger.

Analysis

France has produced a couple of fantastic players in the last couple of years. The national team is currently developing. One player from the French side who knows German football only too well is Franck Ribery. He could be the one to decide the match if he plays. Germany has not fared too well in their friendlies recently. Joachim Löw will be looking to try new things to fix the small problems in his side ahead of the World Cup in 2014. The public in Germany no longer look at Löw the way they used prior to the Euros. Löw knows that his side must crown their development with a trophy soon.
