Despite Arsene Wenger believing his squad is better than what he had last season, Arsenal is one match into the season and they are already getting grief from the media as well as their doubters. A scoreless draw at the Emirates showed an organized Arsenal side but they lacked creativity in the final third.
Having brought in Santi Cazorla, Olivier Giroud and Lukas Podolski, Arsene Wenger showed that he is capable of signing top-notch players as long as he has the funds available to do so. From the three new signings, Cazorla looked the most comfortable in their opening match against Sunderland. His ability to demand the ball in middle of the park was a great sight to see for Arsenal fans. One of the great aspects of his game is his use of both feet as well as his ability to shoot from long range, something Arsenal doesn't tend to do often.

The Spanish international has the ability to be the same type of player that Cesc Fabregas or even Samir Nasri was to Arsenal. He has pace, incredible foot skills, experience and an astonishing vision of the game. Being part of the Spanish National Team is a big benefit for Cazorla as Arsenal plays a very similar style of football, which allows him to adapt quicker.

Against Sunderland, he was constantly on the ball and taking on defenders which is something the Arsenal faithful didn't see much of last season. With the absence of Jack Wilshere due to injury, Aaron Ramsey was not able to provide enough creativity in the final third for Arsenal.

With Cazorla in the mix, and with Podolski and Giroud as his target men, Arsenal could have a very dangerous combination if they are able to get used to each other. Podolski scored nearly half of Cologne's goals last season in the German Bundesliga while Giroud was the leading scorer for Montpellier, so they have both proven they can find the back of the net. Having Cazorla behind them pulling the strings should facilitate things for the two of them as well as for the rest of the team.

As for Gervinho, he showed significant development from his performances in his first season at Arsenal. His confidence is back and he is in for a great season if he keeps up the way he's going. Against Sunderland he looked the most dangerous for Arsenal as he continued to cause problems for the opposing defense.

Sunday will be another good test for Arsenal against a Stoke City side that will look to hit the Gunners on the counter attack. With Gervinho getting behind the defense and Cazorla providing the offense, Arsenal will have to find the net to take pressure off of themselves.

Will any of the new signings get their first official goal in an Arsenal uniform?
