The Spanish giants prefer to reap the benefits of a transfer this summer than watching the French defender leave on a free deal next year, when his contract ends.

The extreme makeover Real Madrid fans wanted to see is set to continue this summer, and Raphael Varane seems to be the next in line to leave Los Blancos before the season begins.

The player is under contract with the Spanish giants until 2022, and with that in mind, teams such as PSG and Manchester United have inquired about Los Merengues' asking price. According to Goal, the Red Devils have initiated talks to lure the player to Old Trafford, and the footballer may be referring to the Premier League as his new home soon, since Real Madrid will not get in the way of any negotiations if the English side submit the right kind of bid.

Real Madrid had handed Varane a contract extension offer before the start of the UEFA Euro 2020, to which the player replied he needed "time to analyze". With the tournament over and with France being eliminated two weeks ago, Varane has failed to reply to that bid, which has been taken as a sign by Florentino Pérez and his staff.

With his contract having only 12 months left in it, Los Blancos seem ready to cut their losses and let Varane leave. According to Goal, Manchester United will submit a bid for the player before July 23, the date when Varane is supposed to go back to Real Madrid's training sessions. In fact, the publication adds that Varane may have already agreed personal terms with the club, and all that's left to make it official is for the Red Devils to hand in the bid.

Varane joined Real Madrid in 2011, where he has played 360 games across all comps and scoring seventeen goals in the process. During his time at the Bernabeu, Varane won three La Liga titles, three Spanish Super Cup trophies, and four UEFA Champions League crowns. Now, the player seems ready to join another club, and it could be a matter of days before he is unveiled by his new squad.
