The Croatian's deal at the Bernabeu will expire this summer, and he did not share a straight answer when being asked about this issue.

Time has not stopped for some of Real Madrid's top players, and it seems that the end of the road has come for one of the most notable footballers in the club's recent history, as Luka Modric made a massive revelation about his future, which seems to be closer to an exit from the Spanish side.

The Croatian midfielder, who has won five UEFA Champions League trophies with Los Blancos, is about to see the end of his contract with the Spaniards, and while some believe that the 14-time UCL winners could still offer him an extension, the footballer is not that positive on what the future has in store for him.

About my extension...I haven't spoken to the club, same as last year at this point of the season. I am pretty calm about it, that's all I can say. It's boring for me to answer this question, because I'll always tell you the same: I feel good about myself and I want to stay, but I have to speak with the club, see what they think about it and then we will make a decision," Modric stated.

The footballer went on to add that he wants the club to extend him an invitation to stay if they feel he is still capable of making a contribution, while also admitting that he will end his career with Los Blancos on the best possible terms if that's they way things have to end.

"I want to stay here because I deserve it, not as a handout. Nothing in my life has been given to me free and I'm sure this won't happen right now. No matter what happens, nothing will change my relationship with Real Madrid. This is the club of my life and notihing will change that," Modric added.

Before the press conference concluded, Modric spoke about the team's future leaders such as Tchouamení and Camavinga. Then, he shared his opinion on Jude Bellingham, who has been linked to a high-profile move to Los Merengues and who is said to have a key role in defining whether the Croatian ace will extend his contract or not.

"The future is in their hands. They have to keep working and learning, but let me tell you, they didn't get to play here by chance. The club made an investment on them because they're really good. About Bellingham, I can't say. It's a different scenario, my future is not linked to his signing," the Croatian star concluded.

The midfielder will be leading Real Madrid's midfield against Liverpool on Tuesday. Keep track of all things related to that match with our detailed match page.
