Totally roasted! Real Zaragoza were handed yet another cricket score line against Real Madrid. For Jose Mourinho and his men, the 2011/12 La Liga campaign already looks bright.
Cristiano Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick, Marcelo and Xabi Alonso found the net too while Kaka got his name both on the scoring sheet and the assists list. Real Madrid’s 6-0 defeat of Real Zaragoza was simply a way for Los Blancos to declare their intention of dethroning reigning champions Barcelona at last.

Midway through the first half, Mesut Özil’s hard work was paid off by Cristiano Ronaldo’s opener. Defender Marcelo—who saw red in the Supercopa de España at the Camp Nou—doubled the Spanish giants’ lead 5 minutes later to put his side 2-0 up at the break.

Xabi Alonso made it 3-0 after 64 minutes only to end the contest for Real Zaragoza. From there, the match was a matter of how many goals Real Madrid could score.

Cristiano Ronaldo netted two more strikes as he hit 14 goals in his last 5 Spanish Primera Division games. In between, midfielder Kaka produced a stunning goal.

With a 6-0 margin and ahead of Barcelona’s home fixture against Villarreal, there’s a big chance for Real Madrid to hold on to the top spot of La Liga table after match-day 1.

Earlier in the day and far away in England, it rained goals as Manchester United and Manchester City roasted Arsenal 8-2 and Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 respectively. How great football has become to the neutral football fan!
