Italian giants Internazionale might have to sweat to prevent Wesley Sneijder from joining European rivals Manchester United.
On Saturday, the club’s technical director Marco Branca responded to previous reports from Italian media La Gazzetta dello Sport. The paper stated that billionaires Manchester City were on the brink of tying a €36M deal for Sneijder, something to which Marco Branca retorted in an interview with Ansa:

"We have not even received any calls from Manchester. You keep asking me about Sneijder's future but in all honesty, I don't know what to say. Right now there have been no talks and there are no negotiations between the clubs.”

According to Marco Branca, however, Inter will consider any lucrative offer. In the meantime, Wesley Sneijder wants his future to be sorted out sooner rather than later. Speaking to Voetbal International on Sunday, the Dutch midfielder was quoted as saying:

“All I know is that Inter need money and that I'm for sale if the right offer comes in. I have 5 days off after the international friendly against England on Wednesday. I expect clarity on my future by then.”

Sneijder somehow confirmed Branca’s statements by adding that he had not yet been in talks with either Manchester City or Manchester United. But with Paul Scholes recently adding his voice to Sneijder’s admirers, the Red Devils may feel obliged to step up their chase for the player unless they agree on losing him to the Sky Blues possibly.

Wesley Sneijder’s desire to land at Manchester United this summer might have reached higher levels lately following Inter’s Supercoppa Italiana defeat to AC Milan in which he scored. In England, meanwhile, Manchester United exhibited their authority by winning the 2011 Community Shield in great style despite the absence of a few key players.
