It’s been made clear now. Sergio Aguero wants to leave Atletico Madrid and he may do so this summer. Should Liverpool spend a lot of efforts trying to rival Aguero admirers Chelsea Man City and co?
Having signed a permanent contract with the Reds a few weeks ago, Kenny Dalglish is now looking to do all it takes for Liverpool to enjoy glorious moments again. Next season, the 18-time English league winners will have a lighter agenda as they’ve failed to qualify for Europe this year.

Whereas some may lament Liverpool’s failure to beat Tottenham Hotspur for the fifth spot in the Premiership, other will prefer to see this as a blessing in disguise. At this point, perhaps, Kenny Dalglish’s men need more time and thus less games in order to regroup, reorganize and grow as a team as Carragher suggested according to The Daily Post:

“No disrespect to the Europa League, but the way that competition has gone, it’s not a massive disappointment [to be out of it]. Playing Thursdays and Sundays is not ideal, so there is a flip side to not being involved.”

But how will Liverpool’s absence from both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League affect the club’s chances of making great signings during this summer’s transfer window? For Kenny Dalglish,

“Liverpool Football Club is a big enough attraction for players” so why worry about the European football factor?

Should Kenny Dalglish be believed, fans can expect the Merseyside Reds to make bold bids as Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United, Real Madrid and company are set to let money have the loudest voice. Will it be necessary for Liverpool to join the fierce race for the signature of Atletico Madrid’s star striker Aguero?

The Argentine made his intentions clear through his official website. Some of his statements read the following:

“I said long ago that when I’d want to go, I’d say so publicly and I feel that the time has come. So I kept to my word and now I’m here. I find it hard to leave Atletico. It hurts and it’s sad.

“I’ve asked them [Atletico Madrid] to listen to any offer that they receive for me from different clubs.”

Could Aguero be tempted to becoming the new Fernando Torres at Liverpool and eventually contribute in Dalglish’s project to restore the Merseyside Reds’ pride? Ex-Atletico star Maxi Rodriguez has proven to be a good acquisition for Liverpool so must the English club consider fighting for Aguero too?
