Juventus will aim to move another step closer to defending their Serie A title by securing a win in Thursday's trip to Udinese. After ending Lazio's hopes of staging a late fight for the league trophy in Monday night's 2-1 win, the league-leaders are now six points clear of their closest rivals Atalanta.
Indeed, celebrations in the streets of Turin can be significantly fast-tracked should the Bianconeri emerge victorious in their upcoming trip to Stadio Fruilli. It has been a tough few weeks for Maurizio Sarri's men who, until the recent win over Lazio, had dropped seven points in their last three outings.
Prior to that, the Old Lady was on a four-game unbeaten run, and had scored 13 goals while conceding just two during the period. Cristiano Ronaldo, who was pivotal in the wins racked up by the defending champions, seems to have found his mojo once again as he successfully took his tally in the league campaign to 30. And with the likes of Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa also stepping up, Juve should not have any problems against Udinese.
For Le Zebrette, an unlikely win should be enough to guarantee them a spot in the league for next season. In recent weeks, Luca Gotti's men have seen all their hard work in games undone by fine margins. Following a top performance against Napoli in the last game, they were eventually forced to settle for a 2-1 defeat, conceding Politano's decider in the 95th-minute.
Against Lazio, the Fruilli outfit was not clinical enough as they ended up concluding affairs without any of the sides scoring. Needless to say, some inspiration can be drawn from the wins over SPAL and Roma and, although Juventus will present a different set of threat, Udinese should be able respond back with a strong performance.
