Juventus vs Udinese Report

Sunday January 29 2012,
Tags: Juventus, Udinese, Serie A
Alessandro Matri scores a superb brace against Udinese to help a triumphant Juventus extend their Serie A lead to four points.
Two goals from striker Alessandro Matri were the difference as Juventus withstood the falling snow to edge Udinese 2-1 to move four points clear at the top of the Serie A standings on Saturday.

La Vecchia Signora pushed to the attack immediately from the kick-off and the South American connection of Arturo Vidal and Marcio Estigarribia combined for what almost was their opening goal. Vidal sent Estigarribia through on goal with a penetrating pass, but the Paraguayan international had his fierce shot saved by the foot of Udinese goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

Moments later Udinese came close to opening the scoring, when a powerful drive from Almen Abdi was only just tipped over the bar by Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.

Juventus vs Udinese Preview

Friday January 27 2012,
Tags: Juventus, Udinese, Serie A
Juventus will be hoping to continue with their winning ways when they invite direct rivals Udinese to the Juventus Stadium in what has the potential to be an explosive encounter on Saturday.
Fresh from a 3-0 thrashing of Roma in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday, the Old Lady know that if they manage to claim maximum points against Udinese they would move six points clear of the visitors, and consolidate their position at the top of the Serie A standings.

Just over a month ago, on December 21 to be precise, the two sides fought out a goalless draw in a round 1 catch up game, further highlighting the fact that we can expect a very evenly balanced encounter at the Juventus stadium on Saturday.

However, Juventus come into the clash as the odds on favourites, not only because of their home-field advantage, but because they continue to remain unbeaten this season, with six wins and three draws from nine home matches.

Wednesday August 17 2011,
Tags: Arsenal, Udinese
Theo Walcott scored an early goal to ensure a 1-0 win against the Serie A side.
Arsenal had their fair share of problems coming into this Champions League play-off match. Both Samir Nasri and newly appointed captain, Robin Van Persie were suspended following a dreadful evening in Barcelona last season. Cesc Fabregas had just departed for Spain.

Jack Wilshere was injured as well. The midfielder had been phenomenal for the English side last season and thus, was bound, to be sorely missed by the Gunners. Arsene Wenger was also serving a touch-line ban for his rant last season following the exit to Barcelona.

Barcelona Transfer News: Done Deal For Udinese’s Alexis Sanchez

Friday July 22 2011,
Tags: Alexis Sanchez, Barcelona, Udinese, Chile
Barcelona’s team changes are still on course, and all seems to go well so far with the recent agreement they have reached with Udinese for their star Alexis Sanchez.

New Barcelona transfer Alexis Sanchez could be a real superstar in a few years.A stunning performance from the Chilean playmaker was more than enough to push Udinese in the Top Four of the Italian Serie A last season just ahead of fifth place Lazio - thanks to a greater goal difference. His contributions however did not go unnoticed by the world’s current most dangerous team.

A move from Sanchez to Barcelona soon became one of the main summer transfer topics. The 22-year-old forward was giving the green light to skip his country’s preparation period ahead of the on-going Copa America tournament due to promising negotiations between Udinese and the Catalans.

Delays nevertheless saw Sanchez compete in the continental competition with suspense at the back of his mind. But a deal finally took place on Wednesday afternoon, three days after Chile’s surprising disqualification from the contest.

Man City Transfer Rumors: Alexis Sanchez Tops City's Shopping List

Tuesday June 14 2011,
Tags: Alexis Sanchez, Manchester City, Udinese
Udinese owner Gianpaolo Pozzo has claimed that City are in pole position to sign their Chile talisman this summer.
Manchester City have apparently made Alexis Sanchez as their top transfer target after reports emerged that they have already submitted a bid for the Udinese winger. And the Italians outfit's owner Gianpaolo Pozzo has now revealed that City is looking to be the likeliest destination for Sanchez.

"The right offer has not yet arrived. Alexis is a player everybody wants, but he is also a player with a specific price. It is not easy for anyone to buy him.

"And if he and his agent [Fernando Felicevich] are intelligent people, they will know that firstly we cannot give him away, and secondly if people are not prepared to give him the right consideration, it is better to stay in Udinese than to risk getting burned out or seeing his reputation suffer.

Francesco Guidolin's Trials and Triumph

Monday April 18 2011,
Tags: Milan, Udinese, Napoli, Serie A, Guidolin
Udinese's 2-1 defeat of Napoli defied all expectations, and enhanced the reputation of Francesco Guidolin, a man who has not always gotten the recognition he deserves.
Sunday’s posticipo suggested that it wouldn’t be outrageous if Milan were to include Francesco Guidolin’s name in the list of people to thank for their increasingly imminent Scudetto. Sure, their own work in the 3-0 thrashing of Sampdoria heaped pressure on their closest rivals to maintain a viable distance, but it was Guidolin who allowed the Rossoneri to disappear around the bend—six points ahead of Napoli and eight of Inter, who lost 2-0 to Parma.

Unexpectedly, Udinese diligently unraveled Napoli’s season with a 2-1 win at the San Paolo. Unexpectedly, not because they haven’t shown that they have the quality to do so, but because they were missing their two forwards who have ripped through any defence this season: Antonio Di Natale and Alexis Sanchez.

Leonardo Says AC Milan vs Inter Is Not ‘Crucial’. Shockingly Right Or Wrong?

Friday April 1 2011,
Tags: Leonardo, Scudetto, Udinese, Fiorentina, AS Roma, Sampdoria
Coach Leonardo has interestingly downplayed the importance of Saturday’s AC Milan vs Inter derby whereas everyone around him portrays it as the Scudetto’s decider. Live Soccer TV tackles this topic.
It is true that nothing is over until it is over and that points get counted at the end of the road in football. However, mathematical possibilities don’t always defeat realism. If Inter fall 5 points behind AC Milan on Saturday with a defeat, it won’t mathematically rule out Leonardo’s team as potential title winners since there will then be 7 more matches to go.

However, football fans will expect AC Milan to keep matters in their own hands at the disadvantage of the then-wounded Nerazzurri. So isn’t it normal to view this weekend’s derby as the ultimate title decider?

Serie A Week 22 Talking Point: Where is the Real Juventus?

Monday January 31 2011,
Tags: Juventus, Agnelli, Udinese
A 2-1 defeat to Udinese has left Juventus twelve points behind the summit and with a lot of unanswered questions.
When football players and managers utter platitudes in the press you have to wonder whether they actually hear what they're saying. The most trying are 'we respect them, but we do not fear them,' and 'each side has eleven players, and the ball is round.'

Of course not everyone can be as refreshingly candid as Blackpool manager Ian Holloway, but what most fans crave is a glimpse into exactly what's going on behind the scenes. What are the directors thinking? What are the players thinking? What is the manager really thinking?

The False Promise of Daniele Bonera

Sunday January 9 2011,
Tags: Serie A, Milan, Milan, Udinese, Bonera
After his performance today against Udinese, it would take some justification to select Daniele Bonera again for Milan.
Daniele Bonera was at one time promoted as one of the most promising young defenders in Italy, an endorsement that does not come easily in a country perennially lauded as producing the best defenders in the game (though given how easily the Italian defence was breached this past World Cup, that sort of praise is now an anachronism).

In September 2001, at only the age of 20, he earned his first senior call-up for Italy in a friendly match against Morocco, and soon after he moved from Brescia to Parma in 2002, at a time when the Tardini side were starting to wane as bona fide movers and shakers of Italian fooball, even though they were yet to be affected by the collapse of the club’s parent company Parmalat, which was to come acutely and unforgivingly a year later.

Udinese vs Genoa Preview

Friday August 27 2010,
Tags: Genoa, Udinese, Serie A
Genoa's compelling transfer activity could pay dividends this season.

Udinese take on Genoa at the Stadio Friuli with new coach Francesco Guidolin at the helm.  The coach, who has had a former stint at Palermo, will be eager to get his season started with a victory against a Genoa side that has bought considerably well during the summer.

Luca Toni, Rafinha and Miguel Veloso all joined Genoa in high profile moves, and if the club’s ambition proves commensurate to their performances, then Genoa should finish near the top of Serie...
