Inter Miami is yet to break the bank with a Designated Player signing, and its English owner has set his sights on one of his former clubs to do so.

With the pause caused by the coronavirus pandemic seemingly approaching its end, rumors surrounding some of the game's best footballers have gone back to steal most headlines.

One of those rumors involves one of Real Madrid's best players who has failed to make his way into Zidane's regular lineups, and now his future seems further away from the Bernabeu with each passing day.

According to Paul McDonough, Inter Miami's sporting director, the club is considering the possibility of adding Rodríguez to their roster as part of an effort that would see the Miami-based side adding not one, but two more players during the summer, as per his own words on the weekly show OnSide.

Rodríguez's links to the North American club intensified during the break after an alleged phone call between David Beckham and Florentino Pérez to discuss a potential deal. While Pérez and the former midfielder have a good relationship, the report adds that no formal offer has made it to Pérez's desk.

McDonough's words come as Inter Miami returned to their training sessions after the pause caused by the pandemic. The club will use its open-air facilities to follow the social distancing rules established by health authorities in the United States.
