The Brazilian ace is still being investigated by local authorities over the fake documents he tried to use to enter the country.

Ronaldinho decided to speak up about his legal problems almost one month after being incarcerated in Paraguay for trying to enter the country with a fake passport. The Brazilian ace spoke to Paraguayan newspaper ABC Color about the experience, while also denying him or his brother tried to escape justice.

"We were absolutely shocked when we realized that the documents we used were not legal. From that point on, our intention was to try and cooperate with the local police to clarify the facts," Ronaldinho said.

The player went on to describe the circumstances that led him to make the trip to Paraguay.

"I never imagined I would need to go through something like this. It was really tough. I arrived into Paraguay for the launch of an online casino and of a book. All we tried to do was to honor the contracts my brother comes up with," Ronaldinho added in reference to his brother, Roberto de Assis.

The former Ballon D'Or winner discussed how the other inmates embraced him during his time in jail.

"They were really nice. I got to play football, I gave autographs and pictures. That's a part of my life! I would have no reason to stop doing so, and even more for people that are going through some tough times, which also happened to be my case," Ronaldinho added.

The former Barcelona ace concluded the interview by stating he is not off the hook yet, but he remains confident about the existent chances to clear his name.

"I am a man of faith. I pray for things to go the right way and hopefully this will all come to an end soon. All my life I've tried to reach the highest professional level and to bring joy to all the people with my playing style. That's all I care about," Ronaldinho concluded.
