The Portuguese coach reacted to his players' effort following the draw at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Jose Mourinho has aimed a slight dig at his Tottenham Hotspur players following Saturday's Premier League meeting with Burnley. The Portuguese manager saw his side play out a 1-1 draw at the Turf Moor and insisted that he 'needed more' from some of his players.

Spurs started off the encounter on a back foot as Burnley were fired into the lead by Chris Wood after barely 13 minutes of play. However, a Dele Alli penalty kick restored parity in the 50th minute and subsequently ensured that spoils were shared at full-time. With the result, Spurs moved to eighth on the league log, with the side now four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Nevertheless, headcoach of the Lilywhites Jose Mourinho was critical of his player's showing in the first-half despite commending their effort in the second 45 minutes.

"Very good. Really good. Burnley are good, Burnley are strong but in the second half we were very strong.

"We probably deserved more. We tried everything until the last second and I'm very happy with the players' attitude.

"We didn't have control in our midfield [in the first half]. We need more from some players, more responsibility, more attitude, more intensity, and we had that in the second half with the changes me made."

Mourinho further discussed the expectations on his players ahead of their Champions League Round of 16 second leg tie with RB Leipzig and revealed that there were limitations to what they could achieve albeit retaining the belief of getting the result. The North London outfit will hope to bounce back after suffering a 1-0 defeat at the Tottenham Stadium in the first leg.

"Tuesday, we go and we win or we lose and leave absolutely everything there." he said.

"Not one piece of energy and heart and soul. People are tired, some people are injured, we have limitations…we know we have limitations. It's not an easy season.

"The spirit is fantastic, the boys showed that in every difficult moment. They showed that today."
