Liverpool vs Man City, in particular, was the most-viewed English top-flight game from last year.

Although we are currently in 2020, a new report has been published revealing the astonishing numbers Sky Sports pulled in over the 2019 calendar year with their broadcast of the Premier League.

The UK broadcaster revealed a 21 percent year-on-year increase in its viewership for 2019, proving that the already popular English top-flight continues to attract new audiences.

The game that stood out in terms of viewership in the last 12 months was Liverpool 3-1 Man City back in November. An average of 3.36 million viewers tuned in for that epic showdown, making it the third most-watched Premier League broadcast in Sky Sports history.

Furthermore, there was an increase in their digital platform viewership, attracting 33 million unique visitors per month during 2019. Across their social media platforms including Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, Sky Sports racked in 2.5 billion views, which is a boost for online streaming.

And guess which single football video highlight blew up the views counter? None other than Kepa's astonishing dispute with then-Chelsea coach Sarri as the goalkeeper refused to be subbed off during the 2019 Carabao Cup final.

2020 has just begun but these numbers could still grow given all the hype surrounding this season. Unbeaten Liverpool are currently leading the table, having drawn once and won every other league game this term in their bid to become the champions and the latest Invincibles.
