The Gunners are looking to put an end to their horrendous winless streak when they host the German club. Check out our match preview for more info.

What is the form of Arsenal compared to Frankfurt?

To put it simple, Arsenal’s form is nothing short of atrocious. The Gunners are now winless in their last six games in all competitions, winning once out of eight. Stretch that run to their last 11 games and the north London giants have only three wins. In the Europa League, though, they have fared well, winning all but one of their group-stage games so far (D1).

Things haven’t been going great for Frankfurt as well. They head into this clash on the back of a three-game losing streak. However, given Arsenal’s form, they might fancy their odds of ending that run. The German outfit have won five of their last 11 games.

Arsenal vs Frankfurt head-to-head record

The only time these two sides have met before was in their Matchday 1 encounter, which the Gunners won 3-0. Arsenal have hosted German clubs in London 19 times before, winning twelve of those. However, they have lost five times in the last eight home games.

Team news

Arsenal have opted for younger lineups in the Europa League and Thursday’s game should be no different. Dani Ceballos hasn’t returned from injury so he will miss this game but Granit Xhaka could make a return after being frozen out of the squad in the aftermath of his altercation with the fans. Hector Bellerin could also miss this game, while Saeed Kolasinac will be assessed.

Preview

All eyes will be on Unai Emery for this game. The Spaniard is under heavy pressure after failing to win any of his last six games. Not only have the Gunners failed to achieve victory, but their performance has been nothing short of embarrassing.

Many thus believe it’s merely a matter of time before he is sacked. Wolves’ Nuno has been linked with the position as a result. It’s unknown whether defeat on Thursday will be the final nail to the coffin but regardless, Emery must secure a win regardless.

The north London giants won their first three games in this competition before drawing 1-1 at Vitoria. A draw would secure them progression but it’s not merely a draw that fans want to see, nor a win alone, but a convincing performance from the squad.
