The French footballer may be set to extend his stay at Old Trafford despite being harshly criticized by fans and experts.

Even after a summer in which Paul Pogba seemed to demand a transfer away from Manchester United, the club might be ready not only to keep the star midfielder around, they would try to offer him a contract extension.

According to a report by L'Equipe, the English giants are keen on signing a new deal with the wantaway midfielder, and contacts between Ed Woodward and agent Mino Raiola may have already taken place.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup champion with France has not changed his stance on his future, since he would be open to switch sides in the winter transfer window if the right opportunity comes knocking. As for his agent, Raiola has repeatedly stated that he will try to get Pogba the kind of deal he wants, especially if that means he is able to leave Manchester United.

The footballer has been involved in several controversies during the early days of the 2019-20 season, which include being racially abused by fans after missing a penalty and having supporters spray-painting a sign right outside of Man United's training complex with the words "Pogba Out".

While keeping Pogba around might be a good option to some, the footballer's desire to leave may be enough to snub any deal offered to him by Manchester United's hierarchy.
