Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has signed a new extension to his current deal that will see him play at Old Trafford until 2015
Darren Fletcher has signed a new contract with United- following in the footsteps of fellow teammates, Michael Carrick, Anderson, Patrice Evra and Ryan Giggs. Fletcher, who has been one of United's most important players over the last two years, will now play for the Red Devils until 2015 at least.

The Scotland captain has been a terrific player for United and has made 288 appearances, scoring 21 goals in a United shirt since making his debut in 2003. Nonetheless, Sir Alex Ferguson believes that Fletcher is a top-class midfielder.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said: "Darren has been at the club since he was 15. I am extremely proud that he came through the ranks of our youth academy and am delighted Darren has signed a new contract. He has developed into a top-class midfielder.''

Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher has stated his ambition to win more trophies with United in the years to come after signing a new deal.

Fletcher said: "I take great pride in playing for Manchester United. I have won many trophies in my years playing here and I am looking forward to winning many more in the seasons to come. I would like to thank everyone at the club.''

United are currently at the top of the table but with a massive clash with Liverpool coming ahead this Sunday, this news could be the perfect boost for United and Fletcher as well.
