The caretaker manager has turned the club's fortunes around and has won over the dressing room after only nine games in charge.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned things around at Man United and has impressed the higher-ups with his electric debut. While he is yet to win the permanent role, reports claim victory in one crucial matchup could land him that position.

According to the Sun, beating PSG in the Champions League could earn the interim boss a promotion. While achieving this feat appeared nearly impossible once the round of 16 draw was held, a lot of things have changed in favor of the Red Devils.

Firstly, the Old Trafford side has regained their form. Mourinho was the man in charge when the Premier League giant was pitted against the French champion, albeit for only one extra day, but since then the 20-time Premier League champion has been on a rise.

Man United is yet to lose a single game since the Norwegian succeeded the Special One. He led his team to eight straight victories in his first eight games in charge before drawing 2-2 at home against Burnley in the league.

Even that draw drew optimism, as the club fought back from 2-0 down to earn a point in stoppage time in similar fashion to the "Fergie Time" days. Many of the players who were underperforming under Jose are now back to their best, namely Pogba and Rashford, as the mood has changed for the better in the dressing room.

The French World Cup winner had been linked with an exit but now appears ready to sign a new Man United deal. Anthony Martial has already committed his future to the club, with De Gea, Rashford, and Herrera expected to follow suit thanks to Solskjaer winning over the dressing room.

Ed Woodward is tipped to be a supporter of the 45-year-old, but the final decision lies with the Glazers. Nonetheless, the belief among the staff is that he will be handed the permanent job should he guide the team past PSG in the Champions League.

"There were no assurances of a permanent offer as of yet," a source at the club revealed about a recent meeting between Ole and Woodward.

"Woodward is fully in Ole's corner but the Glazers have the final say.

"He pushed for Jose, so has some making up to do. The consensus around the training ground is Ole will get the job though with a positive result against PSG."

With Neymar having been ruled out of both legs and the Red Devils returning to their best, Solskjaer might just fancy his odds of triumphing over Tuchel's crew. The English giant has earned impressive away victories against Tottenham and Arsenal under their caretaker and will now look to take down Mbappe and Co. However, the manager's priority right now is their next league game -- a trip to Leicester on Sunday.
