The Spaniard has finalized his return to Spain, joining Simeone's side on an 18-month deal.

It's finally official. Alvaro Morata has sealed a temporary move away from Chelsea, joining Atletico Madrid on a loan.

The Spanish striker, who endured an awful spell with the Blues, packed his bags and left Stamford Bridge after failing to impress Maurizio Sarri. The forward was eventually dropped by the Italian, with the London giant eventually signing Gonzalo Higuain to help solve their goalscoring issues.

As a result, Morata left England in favor of a return to Spain. He will now don the Rojiblancos jersey until the 2019-20 season.

Having spent four seasons at Atletico's academy, Morata spoke with great excitement about his Wanda Metropolitano switch. He told the club's official website

"I'm very happy and proud to be here. I can't wait to start training, meet my new teammates and play."

After scoring only 16 times in 47 Premier League appearances, the former Juventus man will hope to get his career back on track with Simeone's side. He will wear the number 22 jersey and will join fellow countryman Diego Costa in attack.

Costa has struggled to find the back of the net this term in the Spanish Primera Division, scoring only once all season. Hence Morata's arrival will offer Simeone options in attack as they aim to beat Barcelona to the league title while getting their hands on the Champions League crown.
