Fernando Torres is yet to play for the Blues but could do so in this weekend’s Chelsea vs Liverpool match. Carlo Ancelotti can’t wait for the Spaniard to team up with Didier Drogba upfront.
Fernando Torres, who was captured by Chelsea on the last day of the transfer window, is considered as one of football’s best strikers in the world. The ex-Liverpool star now carries a mammoth £50M price tag on his shoulders and he is expected to deliver good performances and goals.

His first test, coincidentally, is set to be Sunday’s super Chelsea vs Liverpool clash at Stamford Bridge. The home fans will have the honour of seeing Fernando Torres, whom they used to despise so much because of his previous Red identity, as the player will be making his debut in a blue shirt.

On Tuesday night, new-signing Torres had to watch from a distance as forwards Nicolas Anelka and Salomon Kalou combined with Didier Drogba in attack to destroy Sunderland with a 4-2 victory. Anelka and Kalou were perhaps trying to issue a loud call to Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti so as to remind him of their abilities in front of goal.

However, although the Italian was proud about last night’s result, he didn’t change his idea of picking Fernando Torres above the rest to join Didier Drogba upfront. Speaking to The Sun, Carlo Ancelotti explained that he is looking forward to see Torres leaving up to expectations.

The boss also assured fans that he knows best how to manage a player like the ex-Liverpool goal poacher. On Sunday, Fernando Torres will play against his former club and Coach Carlo Ancelotti fully believes that the striker won’t find it hard to adjust to Chelsea’s football.

“Torres can play in every team, because he has such fantastic ability,” Carlo Ancelotti confidently stated.

“I know what he [Fernando Torres] is; he is not a keeper and not a defender. He is a striker and he will play as a striker. He will have no problems playing with Drogba.”

Sunday’s Chelsea vs Liverpool match in the English Premier League appears as the perfect opportunity for Fernando Torres to instantly make of himself a name – a name as big as his £50M value. It will be down to the Spaniard to prove angered Liverpool fans wrong as he claims that moving to Chelsea means “taking a step to the top level”.
