The Frenchman made his last bow as Arsenal's manager at the Emirates when they took on Burnley on Sunday.

After almost 22 years of being in the driving seat for the Gunners, Arsene Wenger will abdicate his post as manager when the season ends. As such, the London club is already preparing for life after him with some notable names having been tipped to replace the departing Frenchman.

It is believed that Wenger has no role to play in the recruitment of his successor. Nevertheless, the 68-year-old manager has a few words of advice for the man who will be elected to fill his mighty shoes.

“I am not involved in who my successor will be, that is not my job, but what I would say to him is he should follow what he thinks is right for the club,” he said prior to Arsenal’s encounter with Burnley.

“Have a good assessment of the team, because I think this team has quality, and move the club forward with your own ideas. Don’t be struck too much by what happened before, just do what you think is right for the club.

“I have been guided, in my whole life here, by one thing: Is that good for the club or not? you have to think and act for the club like you own it.

“That is the advice I’d give to him; you have to prepare to have that strength to fight every day to do the best possible for Arsenal.”

Arsene Wenger was met with a guard of honor both his side and Burnley as well as a resounding standing ovation by the faithful Gunners as he made his last bow at the Emirates Stadium.
