Alexandre Pato scored two well-taken goals as Milan beat Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia quarter-final.
Pato scored a brace to help Milan past Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia quarter-final. The Rossoneri were playing with a significantly modified squad, as new signings Urby Emanuelson and Mark van Bommel were in action from the outset.

Milan now meet Palermo in the semi-finals of the tournament, and given that Inter beat Napoli in the other quarter-final, a Milan derby for the Final is still a possibility.

Pato got on the scoresheet within 16 minutes. Thiago Silva pounced on a loose ball in the area, and headed it to Pato, who volleyed it home.

The second Pato goal five minutes later came courtesy of an Emanuelson assist. Collecting Emanuelson's pass, Pato tricked past a defender and finished with a shot near the top corner.

Guberti's headed goal for Sampdoria was not enough, as Milan ran out 2-1 winners.
