Serie A: How Sampdoria, Brescia & Bari Finished By Saying Hello To The Seria B

Friday May 20 2011,
Tags: Sampdoria, Bari, Serie B
We have them all aligned. Sampdoria, Brescia and Bari compose the Serie A’s relegated trio this year. Live Soccer TV reminds you, in brief, how these 3 teams got marked for Serie B football next season.

Sampdoria are doomed for Serie B football.Miserably for Sampdoria, the unwanted expectedly happened on May 15. Mid-table side Palermo defeated the former European football contenders on a 2-1 score line. (Watch video highlights of that game by going on the Sampdoria vs Palermo match page.) With only 1 match left in the Serie A, there’s absolutely no chance for Sampdoria to avoid the Serie B.

They are 5 points behind 17th placed Lecce who confirmed their safety with a 2-0 victory away to Bari last weekend. A shocked Roberto Mancini (a self-confessed Sampdoria fan) clearly couldn’t believe his eyes just as most disappointed supporters of La Samp. He was reported by Italian news source La Stampa as saying on Tuesday:

Sampdoria's Three Games of Agony

Monday May 2 2011,
Tags: Sampdoria, Garrone, Cassano
Incredibly, Sampdoria have just three games to save themselves from relegation.
Secretly, away from the rehearsed platitudes in front of the camera, perhaps Antonio Cassano is looking back at his spat with Riccardo Garrone with vindication. In the late fall, Garrone ostracized Cassano from Sampdoria for refusing to attend a local awards ceremony as a personal favour to him. Of course, the refusal was accompanied by the usual battery of flattery Cassano-style, during which he reportedly likened Garrone not just to fecal matter, but old one at that. In the aftermath, Cassano apologized repeatedly, but Garrone remained committed to his position, insisting that it was a question of dignity and integrity.

Penitent, Cassano even offered to drink petrol as atonement, but Milan obviated the need for that by rescuing the player from Sampdoria.

Leonardo Says AC Milan vs Inter Is Not ‘Crucial’. Shockingly Right Or Wrong?

Friday April 1 2011,
Tags: Leonardo, Scudetto, Udinese, Fiorentina, AS Roma, Sampdoria
Coach Leonardo has interestingly downplayed the importance of Saturday’s AC Milan vs Inter derby whereas everyone around him portrays it as the Scudetto’s decider. Live Soccer TV tackles this topic.
It is true that nothing is over until it is over and that points get counted at the end of the road in football. However, mathematical possibilities don’t always defeat realism. If Inter fall 5 points behind AC Milan on Saturday with a defeat, it won’t mathematically rule out Leonardo’s team as potential title winners since there will then be 7 more matches to go.

However, football fans will expect AC Milan to keep matters in their own hands at the disadvantage of the then-wounded Nerazzurri. So isn’t it normal to view this weekend’s derby as the ultimate title decider?

Wednesday January 26 2011,
Tags: Giampaolo Pazzini, Sampdoria, Inter Milan, Transfer
Inter Milan are said to be interested in Sampdoria’s Giampaolo Pazzini. Reports say that the Nerazzurri could complete the striker’s transfer before the end of January.
Pazzini has played a remarkable role in his club’s current season so far, and his services could be of great need to Inter’s front. Along with Samuel Eto’o and Milito, the Italian forward would truly add fire to what is already a dangerous line of attack for the defending Serie A champions.

While Sampdoria president Riccardo Garrone has expressed doubts upon his player’s departure this month, Inter owner Massimo Moratti has shown notable interest in Pazzini. Speaking to Sport Mediaset, Garrone said: "There are still 4 to 5 days left until the end of the market, we'll see. For now, I don't want to say any more.”

Sampdoria vs AC Milan Preview

Tags: Milan, Sampdoria, Coppa Italia, Van Bommel, Emanuelson
Milan take on Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals, and their two new signings could make their debuts.
Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has said that he will possibly start with both of his new signings in tomorrow’s Coppa Italia quarter-final match against Sampdoria. Dutchmen Urby Emauelson and Mark Van Bommel are the two newest recruits at the San Siro, and given Milan’s host of injuries in the midfield department—Mathieu Flamini, Massimo Ambrosini, Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso, Kevin-Prince Boateng, and Rodney Strasser are all unavailable—both should make their debuts earlier than expected.

“There is a 90% chance that both players will start,” explained Allegri. “Well one of them will start 100%, while the other is 90%.”

Manchester United Transfer News: Macheda At Sampdoria To Replace Cassano

As part of some football transfer news involving Manchester United, striker Kiko Macheda has joined Sampdoria on loan. The Serie A contenders believe that the Man United striker can replace AC Milan’s Antonio Cassano.
So there should be no more irregular football for the young Italian chap who set to enjoy Serie A football soon. However, nothing is official yet as Macheda explained while talking to Italian magazine La Gazzetta dello Sport:

“It’s just the fax that is missing. Wednesday or Thursday, I’ll be in Italy. I’m very happy because Genoa is a great city.”

Milan Could be Cassano's Last Chance at Redemption

Saturday December 18 2010,
Tags: Milan, Antonio Cassano, Sampdoria, Real Madrid
Italian football's enigmatic Antonio Cassano is rumoured to be on his way to Milan, a place where he could resurrect a career that has never really gotten going.
Sampdoria owner Ricardo Garrone has been intransigent on the issue since October. Such is his conviction that he has even sought legal recourse. You could say, he is a man who is willing to take a stand in Italian football, where shifting allegiances, caprice, corruption and panic dictate the terms of administerial conduct.

It has taken Antonio Cassano, the celebrated and maligned pariah of Italian football, to inspire a modicum of consistency in Italian football, a philosophical stand that should cause pause for thought amongst people like Palermo owner Maurizio Zamparini, who changes his mind about issues twice every mood-swing.

Milan poised to sign Antonio Cassano

Thursday December 16 2010,
Tags: Milan, Sampdoria, Cassano
Milan have reportedly agreed terms to sign Sampdoria's Antonio Cassano.
Reports emerging from Italy suggest that Milan have agreed a three and a half-year deal with Beppe Bozzo, the agent of Italian football's most celebrated pariah--Sampdoria's Antonio Cassano. The 28-year-old has been frozen out of the Sampdoria squad after he unduly disparaged club owner Riccardo Garrone in October. The dispute was apparently over the question of Cassano's attendance at a local awards ceremony.

Such was the acrimony surrounding the incident that Garrone moved to marginalize Cassano from the club. Despite several apologies from Cassano, Garrone remained obstinate, citing the particularly vicious nature of Cassano's tirade as the reason for his intransigence.

UEFA Europa League Match-day One Preview - From Group G To Group L

We now preview match-day one of the UEFA Europa League with from Group G to Group L. Watch out for a great night of European football with accustomed Champions League contenders Liverpool and FC Porto vying for a successful campaign.
Which One Is The Most Interesting – Group H, Group I, or Group J?

Group H is a section where three of the four teams drawn look potentially good enough to each shape the table its own way. You look at Getafe and Stuttgart and you are almost sure that these two sides aren’t just going to travel around Europe but fail on the pitch.

They’ll definitely make things tough as Group H favorites. Besides Getafe and Stuttgart’s threat, there is also BSC Young Boys. More luck would have seen them compete in this season’s UEFA Champions League competition at the expense of Tottenham Hotspur. Unfortunately for the Swiss, they suffered a 6-3 aggregate defeat to Spurs despite holding a 3-2 advantage ahead of the second leg in the play-off.

UEFA Champions League - Sampdoria’s Palombo: Werder Bremen Can Be Beaten
