Man City aim to sign Alexis during winter window

Manchester City will make move to sign Alexis Sánchez this winter

January 8, 2018 By Oscar Rojas
Gabriel Jesus' injury will force Manchester City to spend cash in a deal they could have made for free next summer.

Despite having allegedly reached a deal to have him moving to Manchester next summer, Alexis Sánchez's transfer to Pep Guardiola's team will be hurried up due to Gabriel Jesus' injury.

According to a report by The Mirror, the Chilean ace will join the current English Premier League leaders after the Citizens pay Arsenal at least 30 million pounds (around 40 million dollars). The report states that Arsenal would be willing to have this deal done as soon as possible, in order to look for Sánchez's replacement with spare time.

The 29-year-old striker hasn't been at his best form this season, but he's managed to score a few goals for Wenger's crew during the last year of his contract with the Gunners. Sánchez refused several contract extension offers from Arsenal's hierarchy, and with that in mind, the North London side would be willing to collect some cash now rather than watching Sánchez leave on a free transfer next summer.

Pep Guardiola's reasons to go ahead with this deal have to do with Gabriel Jesus' injury, who will be out for at least two months after picking up a knee injury. As of now, Sergio Aguero is the only striker available for the Spanish boss, and in order to prevent a catastrophe, Pep feels he needs more players around to keep the team's unbeaten form.
