Match Facts & Stats

  • Arsenal have failed to score in seven of their last nine games against Chelsea in the Premier League, netting just four goals in total during this period
  • The last time Arsenal didn't lose either Premier League meeting with Chelsea in a season was in 2011-12 (W1 D1)
  • Arsenal won this same fixture last season 3-0, after failing to beat Chelsea in five prior attempts at the Emirates (L2 D3)
  • Chelsea have kept a clean sheet in their last 4 matches
  • Arsenal are undefeated in 16 of their last 17 home matches in the Premier League
  • Chelsea are also undefeated in 12 of their last 13 matches

Arsenal keen on getting back on track

Both teams obviously will be aiming for all three points here after the first meeting this season finished as a scoreless stalemate at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal come into this game having dropped vital points in a rather controversial draw with West Brom, and will be keen on kicking off 2018 with a win against their cross-town rivals. At the present, Arsene Wenger's side are unbeaten in their last five matches, but sit in a rather disappointing sixth place - and are six points behind fourth-placed Liverpool ahead of this match.

A win obviously will help them inch closer towards a Champions League berth, but Wenger could have to make do without two key players. Both Mesut Ozil and Laurent Koscielny are in serious doubt for this fixture after suffering injuries during the 1-1 stalemate with West Brom. In addition, Sead Kolasinac had to be withdrawn during that game, and is ruled out for this upcoming clash, while Santi Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and Olivier Giroud are also still on the treatment table.

Arsenal's scoring record against Chelsea certainly will be a major concern. The Gunners have netted in just two of their last nine meetings with the Blues in the Premier League, and three of their four goals came during their 3-0 win over their London rivals last season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea cruised to a 5-0 win over Stoke City to further consolidate their spot inside the top four and could overtake Manchester United in second spot with a victory here. Antonio Conte largely has a full-strength squad available for selection, with only David Luiz still missing out due to a knee problem. However, although the Blues are unbeaten in their last five fixtures - with wins in four of them - they have won just one of their last four on the road.

Who will come out on top in this highly-anticipated London Derby? Tune in to find out.
