Match facts
- Benfica have never beaten Man United in England in five attempts (D1, L4).
- The Red Devils are unbeaten at home in their last 19 European home games (W15, D4).
- The Premier League champions have won seven of their 10 meetings with the Eagles (D2, L1).
- The visitors have won only four games in England in 16 attempts (D2, L10).
Team news
This may be Benfica’s worst European run, losing their last four games, but it’s quite the opposite for Man United. The Red Devils know they can book their ticket to the next round if they better the result of CSKA Moscow vs Basel, meaning victory on Tuesday could send them into the round of 16.
Luckily for Mourinho, the Premier League giants have no new injury worries. Both Eric Bailly and Phil Jones, who featured in the 1-0 win over Tottenham, came out unscathed and are thus ready to start in defense on Tuesday.
Nonetheless, the Special One still has to do without Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Paul Pogba. Ibrahimovic and Rojo are also on the road to recovery.
The visitors will be without Luisao and Andre Almeida. Both are suspended, and will thus join the injured Jardel on the sidelines.
