Comical defending saw the Merseyside bottle it in the final minutes of their Premier League opener.

On Saturday, Liverpool kick started their 2017/18 Premier League season. Fans hoping for an excellent start, similar to last season, were sadly treated to a huge disappointment.

The Reds traveled to Watford for the weekend, but became the laughing stock of social media after drawing 3-3 in stoppage time to Marco Silva’s side. An entertaining affair for neutral fans, the game left Reds supporters already pessimistic for the season.

Twice Klopp’s side fought back from a goal down to draw level. It wasn’t until two quick-fire goals from Firmino and Salah that the away side went ahead, leading 3-2.

The score remained like this until stoppage time, as Liverpool appeared destined for a comeback win similar to Arsenal’s triumph over Leicester. This is when Miguel Britos broke the Merseyside giants’ heart, scoring in the 94th minute to rescue a point for the hosts.

The Reds were heavily trolled and mocked on Twitter for bottling it in the final minutes due to comical defending. Check out the best tweets.

With the transfer window not yet over, Liverpool fans will hope Klopp goes back into the market to shop for a world-class defender. Unfortunately, Coutinho’s future remains an unwanted distraction.
