That's the highest ever total for a women's semi-final at a EURO competition, and certainly, one can expect more at the final as many gather to cheer on the Netherlands as they chase their first-ever title. The men's side were unable to bring the World Cup home, suffering heart-break after Spain edged them out with a last-gasp goal, but perhaps the women's team may be able to restore some pride after bitter disappointment saw the Oranje miss out on a spot at EURO 2016. Will they be able to do it on home turf?
Meanwhile, Denmark, who knocked out Germany at the quarter-finals berth, are hoping to join fellow Scandinavian sides Norway and Sweden as champions of Europe. Like the Netherlands, they were not viewed as heavy favorites to get to this stage, and finished second in their quartet behind the EURO 2017 hosts. But once it got to the knockout stages, things began to get interesting. They pulled off an impressive 2-1 comeback to dispatch reigning champs Germany, who, up until then had won every single title since 1995 and then defeated Austria 3-0 on spot-kicks after a 0-0 draw.
