The Eredivisie had five matches postponed due to heavy snowfall this weekend. PSV did play on Sunday and grabbed the Dutch Winter title with a 3-1 home win over Roda JC.
Although the ‘Klassieker’ between Ajax and Feyenoord was scheduled under the roof of the Amsterdam Arena, the match was postponed like four other matches because of the Dutch snow this weekend. Fans were not able to reach the stadium.

PSV – Roda JC was the only match that was played on Sunday and the home team took the winter title with a 3-1 win. Ibrahim Afellay waved farewell to the Eindhoven crowd. The PSV captain moves to Barcelona in January.

Number tree ranked FC Groningen were well on their way to grab the provisional top spot on the table, when Excelsior came back from 2-0 behind to get a well deserved 2-2 draw at Woudestein on Saturday. “We were not able to keep possession in the second half. In the end we have to be satisfied with a draw”, FC Groningen coach Pieter Huistra said.
 

After their impressive 6-2 win over title holders FC Twente last week sc Heerenveen cruised to victory against De Graafschap on Saturday. Ron Jans’ team won with a four goal margin for the third time this season.





De Graafschap had to cope with an injury struck team in the Abe Lenstra Stadium and coach Darije Kalezic missed six players from his usual starting lineup. When Viktor Elm put the home team in front in the 11th minute, the visitors had lost the match already. Filip Djuricic (34') and Luciano Narsingh (44', 66') added to the tally.





With their easy win Heerenveen stayed on the seventh spot of the table and well in contention of a ticket for the Europa League play-offs. De Graafschap must fear for their twelfth place because both Feyenoord and Heracles Almelo can pass the ‘Superboeren’ on the ranking.


Vitesse have ended NAC Breda’s home winning streak after four consecutive wins when they grabbed a point in Breda on Saturday (1-1). The visitors thus prevented a new home winning streak record of five for NAC.





The home team missed striker Matthew Amoah, who went of injured during the 3-1 away win at Excelsior on Wednesday and they started with Ali Boussaboun as centre forward. When Milano Koenders went of injured after half an hour coaches Gert Aandewiel and John Karelse completely changed their lineup bringing in striker Fouad Idabdelhay and placing Boussaboun in midfield.





The changes did not help NAC much although they managed to equalise after formerf NAC player Julian Jenner had put Vitesse in front in the 30th minute. When Nemanja Gudelj s cored 1-1 in the 58th minute the pitch had started to get white because of the snowfall, which made the game more difficult for both sides. Neither team managed to score in the final thirrty minutes and NAC ended 2010 with ten men after Tim Gillisen received a red card in the 82nd minute.

Dusan Tadic handed the number three ranked Groningen a head start scoring 1-0 in the sevenh minute and when Excelsior goalkeeper Cees Paauwe (29’) pushed the ball in his own goal in an attempt to clear the visitors seemed to cruise to their final league win of 2010.





But Excelsior did not give up and the sixteenth ranked relegation candidate even dominated most of the second half. Ryan Koolwijk scored 2-1 from a penalty in the 49th minute and eventually the home team got what they deserved when Daan Bovenberg equalized one minute from time.


If the opponent is not able to score Willem II are willinh to give them a helping hand. The rock bottom tricolores lost 2-1 at ADO Den haag due to two own goals on Saturday, thus breaking a club record winless streak with 26 consecutive matches without victory in the Erevisie. The Dutch top flight record winless streak is 30, set by Helmond Sport. The only other team also to have a longer winless streak than Willem II are Haarlem with 27.





Niek Vossebelt put ADO one goal up when he tried to clear a ball in the tenth minute and Veli Lampi did the same thing in the 52nd minute to score 2-1. In the meantime Bart Biemans had netted for Willem II on the right side of the pitch.





ADO Den Haag ended 2010 on a high note with 29 points from their first 19 matches. Last season they collected the same points Total over the complete 34 match round season.


PSV have grabbed the Winter title in the Eredivisie with a 3-1 home win over Roda JC in the only not cancelled match on Sunday. The Eindhoven crowd said farewell to Ibrahim Afellay, who will move to FC Barcelona in January. Coach Fred Rutten gave the fans a chance to cheer for the captain a last time when he replaced him symbolically with 17-year-old Zakaria Labyad who set to be Afellay’s successor at PSV in the coming years.





Jeremain Lens handed PSV a quick lead in the fifth minute on Sunday, but the home team got a big blow when striker Jonathan Reis was taken of with a severe looking injury. Roda took advantage of PSV’s confusion and Anouar Hadouir (24‘) fired home a free kick for 1-1.





In the second half PSV overpowered Roda and Reis’ subsitute Marcus Berg scored 2-1 from a Lens assist in the 53rd minute. A Balázs Dzsudzsák goal wrapped up the match in the 68th minute.





Roda already have a chance for revenge when PSV visits Kerkrade in the national Cup tournament on Wednesday. Whether Hadouir will play, is doubtful. The Roda ace went of with a painful knee six minutes from time.
