The rumors linking Neymar with PSG have hit the roof in recent days. Some outlets claim the Ligue 1 giants have already agreed personal terms with the Brazilian star.
Rac1 report (as per Marca) that the Selecao sensation is at a very advanced stage in negotiations with Les Parisiens, who are willing to meet his 222 million euro buyout clause.
This all makes for worrying news for the Catalan giants. Neymar, alongside Suarez and Messi, has helped the Blaugrana torment opposition defenses. Although his exit might not even occur, Barca are already looking at possible replacements.
According to the Times, Ernesto Valverde’s side have nominated Philippe Coutinho as their main target. This is not the first time the Liverpool ace has been linked with a Camp Nou move, but the current situation at Barca has reignited the rumors.
The Copa del Rey champions have offered £72m for the Premier League star, but his employers had only one answer: Coutinho is not for sale.
The Reds remain adamant that should Barca return with a bigger offer, their stance on the player’s future will be the same regardless of the fee. After selling Luis Suarez and Raheem Sterling in recent years, Liverpool are eager to hold onto Coutinho in order to keep growing under Klopp.
The Reds ace was seen as the man to replace the aging Iniesta, who will be out of contract next summer. Neymar’s departure, however, could see Valverde play Coutinho in a more attacking role.
Nonetheless, the odds of this deal happening are unlikely. Coutinho signed a five-year contract last season with no release clause, meaning Liverpool hold all the cards to the player’s future.
