Mexico's busy summer forced coach Juan Carlos Osorio to make some tough choices ahead of their participation in the 2017 Gold Cup, but that doesn't mean that Mexico will present a weaker version of their squad.
The team that will play in the U.S. this month will have some interesting names in it, which will try to keep El Tri as CONCACAF's champion after their victory in 2015. Out of the 23 men that traveled to Russia earlier in the summer, the only one that will play in the U.S. is defender Luis Reyes.
Players such as Jesús Corona, Moisés Muñoz, Elías Hernández and Jesús Molina will be the team's veterans, trying to lead a young but still talented squad to the title.
Young talents such as Rodolfo Pizarro and Orbelín Pineda, both playing for Chivas, and rising midfielder Edson Álvarez will try to win an eighth Gold Cup for Mexico, extending their lead over the USMNT, who have won it five times.
This is Mexico's roster for the 2017 Gold Cup*
*Although he was initially included in the 23-man squad, striker Alan Pulido will not be available to play this tournament after picking up a shoulder injury this Saturday. With that in mind, coach Juan Carlos Osorio decided to call up Houston Dynamo's striker Erick Torres.
