Rankings & Preview

Here's how Chile and Australia compare ahead of Sunday's game

Chile

Alexis Sanchez's goal may not have been enough to give La Roja all three points against Germany, but it was enough to help him make a piece of history. The Arsenal ace is now his nation's all-time top goalscorer and will be hoping to add more to his tally as Chile seek to continue their solid start to their debut Confederations Cup tournament.

To date, Chile have never lost to Australia, and they certainly don't look likely to see that record change as they lock horns in Moscow later today. Claudio Bravo could make his first start at this tournament, especially given that there is little to no pressure on Chile for this match.

Australia

Ange Postecoglou's men come into this game having earned a 1-1 draw with Cameroon to keep their slim qualifying hopes alive. That came off the heels of a 3-2 defeat to Germany, during with Australia fought valiantly, but were unable to get that tying or winning goal against die Mannschaft. The last meeting between the two sides ended as a 3-1 loss for Australia, and they will have to secure their first ever win - and in a big way - if they want to join Mexico and Portugal in the final four.
