The Real Madrid captain was not happy with Los Rojiblancos' campaign ahead of their second-leg tie.

Sergio Ramos has hit back at Atletico Madrid for the recent social media which appears to be targeted at the Real Madrid players. The Spanish defender insisted that his team-mates are humble after Los Blancos’ values were questioned by their rivals.

Since the 3-0 defeat in the first leg, Simeone’s side have been sending out tweets with the hashtag #NoLoPuedenEntender (they cannot understand). They were sent out with messages such as "I love you for your values, not for what you win”, seen as a sly dig at their Madrid rivals.

This unusual off-pitch hostility between the two Spanish giants arose due to a banner at Santiago Bernabeu in their previous meeting. The banner – sanctioned by the 11-time Champions League winners – read: “How does it feel to have lost two Champions League finals?”

With Real Madrid’s humility under attack, their skipper stepped in to defend the players. He said (as per ESPN):

"Here it seems we were all born in Beverly Hills, with a current account of more than €40 million.

"But we have many people who come from humble backgrounds, who were brought up well. All the campaigns, whatever anyone wants to do, does not change what we do.

"We have our values, our humility and make our sacrifice on the pitch."

Ramos knows a feisty affair awaits Zidane’s men on Wednesday. This will be the final Madrid derby at Vicente Calderon, with a spot in the final at stake.
