Former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, current president Josep Maria Bartomeu and the player's parents are all involved in this proceeding.

The Spanish National Court has opened trial proceedings against Neymar due to the irregularities found in his transfer from Santos to Barcelona in 2013.

While the date in which the proceeding will take place hasn't been revealed, the court has asked for a €3.4 million bail, which will have to be covered by the player, former Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, current president Josep Maria Bartomeu, the player's parents (acting as Neymar's agents) and both clubs, Santos and Barcelona.

The Spanish prosecutor will ask for a two-year sentence in prison for Neymar, while adding a €10 Million fine for the South American footballer.

Neymar's transfer from Santos was involved in controversy from the very beginning, as Sandro Rosell claimed that Barcelona paid Santos €57 million four years ago. A protest from a Brazilian investors group called DIS rought to light a new investigation, which revealed that the real amount came close to €86 Million. This actions were allegedly orchestrated by Rosell in order to pay less money to the Brazilian group.

Even if the player is found guilty of those charges, he is unlikely to spend time in prison, as Spanish authorities tend to keep away from the bars all first-time offenders who are sentenced to less than two years of jail time.
