Cries from the fans for a man who can stand up to Arsenal might finally have been answered. Although it’s not the resignation the Wenger Out boys were hoping for, it could be a change for the better nonetheless.
Rumors have linked the Gunners icon, voted as their 12th best player in history, with a return to the club. The Daily Mail revealed that Overmars is in line to become the north London giants’ first director of football, but the 44-year-old holds that exact same position at Ajax.
Le Prof was asked about a possible return for Overmars, a player who spent three seasons at Highbury – winning the double under Wenger. Arsene’s response, although positive, was very coy. The Frenchman manager admitted to liking the Dutchman, but neither denied nor confirmed these reports.
"I like Marc Overmars but he's director of football at Ajax," Arsene said (as per Goal).
"I'm sure there are plenty of other candidates - I'm not worried about that.
"You spend a lot of time focusing on things that are superficial. In football, it's about one thing: good players on the football pitch. That's what you have to take care of."

Arsenal have received two huge boosts: Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny could be back in time for Monday’s game. Wenger did stress that there is a chance that the Boro trip might be too soon, though.
