All in all, it turned out to be a shocking weekend in La Liga, as Real Madrid not only kept their lead over Barcelona, but a lucky turn of events saw them increase their lead by one more point.
Los Blaugranas weren't able to take advantage of the early draw in Madrid's derby, when a fiery Malaga squad outclassed them with a scintillating display. To make matters worse, Neymar is now in serious jeopardy of missing El Clásico, since he couldn't avoid a red card against Los Boquerones while mocking the fourth officer on the pitch by applauding their performance on his way out.
Speaking about the Spanish capital derby, Atlético has dominated Los Blancos at Santiago Bernabeu stadium in the domestic competition for the fourth straight season, something that had never happened in the history of this rivalry.
Atletico Madrid are now unbeaten in their last four #LaLiga games at the Bernabéu.

Pichichi race
Only one of the top five strikers in La Liga made his presence felt, as Messi, Suárez, CR7 and Aspas failed to send the ball into the back of the net. Griezmann's goal capped a good performance by the French ace, while keeping Atleti's streak at the Bernabeu alive.

One of the stand-out facts this weekend came during the game between Málaga and Barcelona,as Neymar saw his first red card as a Barcelona player. While the first yellow card he saw can be considered a bit harsh, his late tackle during the second half of the game was well-deserved, giving Los Blaugranas one more headache after Los Boquerones' opening goal.
Standings after Matchday 31
While Real Madrid added one more point to their lead, and still with a game in hand, Sevilla got close to Atlético's third place by beating Deportivo. Meanwhile, modest Basque club Eibar is now sixth, keeping their European dreams alive.
