The Spanish striker hurt his foot and ankle during training on Sunday whilst on international duty.

Chelsea were handed a recent scare during the ongoing international break, a period in which club managers fret over the safety and fitness of their players. The Blues believed they had lost star striker Diego Costa to injury.

The former Atletico Madrid ace, away on duty with the Spanish national side, hurt his foot and ankle during a training session on Sunday. This lead to fears that the 28-year-old could spend costly time on the sidelines at such a crucial part of the season.

Fortunately for the London giants, further tests revealed that Costa suffered no serious injury (as per Sky Sports). It is uncertain, though, how long the player will need to shake of this knock.

The Spaniard played and scored for La Furia Roja in their 4-1 win over Israel, but is likely to sit out their next game – a friendly vs. France. Spain will continue to monitor the player’s injury until his return to London.

Chelsea are in the midst of a Premier League and FA Cup battle. Antonio Conte’s men could easily win the league and cup double this season, but need to avoid any curve balls until they return to action on April 1 vs. Crystal Palace.
