During the draw between Deportivo and Atlético Madrid, a gruesome incident took place involving Fernando Torres and Depor's Alex Bergantiños.
With the game about to end, The Spanish striker was trying to clear the ball from his box, when Deportivo's defender made a reckless move to try and get the ball, hitting Torres' head in the process. The former Liverpool striker fell to the ground, unconscious, prompting an immediate reaction from Atlético's medical staff.

Some of his team-mates rushed to prevent him from swallowing his tongue, maybe saving the player's life in the process.
Following the initial commotion, Atlético Madrid revealed on their Twitter feed that the player came out with a head injury, but his life is not in danger.
.@Torres suffers a head injury. He was rushed to the hospital to undergo tests. He will spend the night in hospital for observation.
