Leicester City have defended Claudio Ranieri following rumors of a dressing room split and a possible sacking.

Claudio Ranieri has been struggling in the Premier League after Leicester City's historic title win last season. The Italian manager has endured difficult times trying to steer the Foxes back to winning ways only to end up with a series of poor results, most recently the 3-0 thumping by Man Utd on Sunday at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League.

The results leave the defending champions just one point away from the drop zone, something that has sparked rumors of Ranieri's possible sacking. The Daily Mirror recently reported that there was some dressing room unrest at the club involving the title-winning manager and some of his key players.

But the Foxes have today released a statement expressing their support for the 65-year-old manager. The statement published on the club's official website read:

''In light of recent speculation, Leicester City Football Club would like to make absolutely clear its unwavering support for its First Team Manager, Claudio Ranieri.

''While there is a collective appreciation from everyone at the Club that recent form needs to improve, the unprecedented success achieved in recent seasons has been based firmly on stability, togetherness and determination to overcome even the greatest of challenges.

''The entire Club is and will remain united behind its manager and behind its players, collectively and firmly focused on the challenges ahead.''

The Foxes play Derby County in the fourth round of the FA Cup Wednesday at 11:45 am PST. They will then travel to the Liberty Stadium to face Swansea City in the Premier League on Feb 12.
