Claudio Ranieri is interested in signing the Colombian striker, following rumors about Islam Slimani's transfer business with Chinese clubs.

Leicester City's title defense has taken an ugly turn, and in order to avoid being relegated, manager Claudio Ranieri is ready to spend big bucks to lure a striker to King Power Stadium.

Leicester Mercury's website has revealed that former Atlético Madrid frontman Jackson Martinez is set to join the Foxes on a permanent deal. Martínez was one of the most expensive transfers last year, when he left Los Colchoneros to join Guangzhou Evergrande of the Chinese Super League. However, his financial success wasn't reflected on the pitch, as coach Luiz Felipe Scolari didn't include him in the roster that will be playing in the Asian Champions League.

The Colombian striker left the Spanish giants after just one season, where he scored only three goals in 22 games.

With that in mind, Martínez has handed in a transfer request, with the Foxes already preparing a bid for his services.

But how are the current EPL champions going to afford this transfer? Well, Martínez would only come to the team if the Foxes sell Islam Slimani to Tianjin Quanjan, another Chinese Super League squad currently coached by Fabio Cannavaro.

Sources indicate that Leicester City's demands of £38.5M for the Algerian ace will be met, and that money would be used to sign Martinez.
